WALA the project to develop the future communication antennas for lunar rovers and lunar assets
This month has started the WiFi Antennas for Lunar Applications (WALA) project of the European Space Agency (ESA). The objective is the development of an antenna for communications in lunar environments at WiFi/LTE frequencies, and will be carried out by EOSOL with the collaboration of COMET Ingeniería and the University of Oviedo.
The EOSOL Aerospace team will work on the development of a compact antenna that is highly integrable in the body of a lunar rover, in order to provide robust communication in all directions during future exploration missions in our natural satellite.
At the conclusion of the project, a functional TRL6 maturity level prototype will be available.
This project is funded by the European Space Agency (ESA).
