SMALLSAT DEPLOYABLE ANTENNAS
Deployable UHF/L-band helix antennas
The quad-helix deployable antenna has been designed to ensure an impressive compactness ratio while at the same time providing adequate performance in terms of electrical and mechanical performance
The antenna consists of the radiating part (radiating elements and mechanical support structure) and the matching network. All this is housed in a canister with standard dimensions to be able to be housed in a cubesat or smallsat.
The antenna architecture allows for an isoflux-type radiation pattern that can be adapted according to the mission orbit for optimal coverage of the Earth’s surface. The antenna is circularly polarised and has a maximum gain of approximately 6dBi at the edges.
Perfect for navigation (GNSS) or communications (IoT, M2M) applications.
Deployable Reflectors from X to Ka band
The change in the space market introduced by the cubesats and small satellites has opened new opportunities for deployable structures: the available room limitation is a new restriction that many instruments must overcome.
High gain antennas are one of the instruments that need now to be compacted in such a small satellite. EOSOL in collaboration with COMET Ingeniería and Prosix Ingeniería are developing modular deployable antenna reflectors (MODAR) to address this new challenge. The modularity and scalability of this product (from 1 to 3 meters aperture with the same technology) increases its potential market:
1 meter antennas can be installed within a 12U cubeseats (or larger)
3 meter antennas can be installed in small satellites (150 kg or larger)
These antennas can be used for applications such as earth observation, communications, navigation or deep space communications.
